A desktop POS system that works fully offline

Overview

A complete POS for retail: barcode selling, inventory and branches, installments, expenses and daily reports — running on the shop's own machine with no internet, data stored locally.

The challenge

Shops relying on cloud POS systems stop dead the moment the internet drops — with a customer standing at the counter. Monthly subscriptions are a permanent burden on a small shop. Meanwhile the free alternatives are too basic: no inventory, no installments, no reports that tell you how the business is actually doing.

What we did

• An Electron and React desktop app running entirely locally on SQLite — no dependency on the internet or an external server.
• A fast barcode checkout with barcode label generation and printing, thermal receipt printing, and cash drawer control.
• Full back-office: products, categories, suppliers and purchases, multiple warehouses and stocktaking, plus product expiry alerts.
• Modules per business type: installments, customers, partners, expenses and promotions, plus a kitchen display and table management for restaurants, and a customer-facing display.
• Daily and analytical reports with charts, Excel export, user permissions, and an activity log recording every operation.
