A scrap and recyclables buying & selling app

Overview

An app connecting people with scrap or recyclable waste to scrap dealers: request a pickup from home, price by material and weight, and track the request through to payment.

The challenge

The scrap market runs on phone calls and word of mouth: the household has no idea what a fair price is, and the dealer drives around hunting for material without knowing where it is. The result is arbitrary pricing, wasted driving, and disputes over weight and payment after the fact.

What we did

• In-app pickup requests: the user picks the material type, an approximate quantity, and the address on a map.
• An updated price table by material type and weight — the price is clear to both sides before the dealer moves.
• Requests routed to dealers by area, with instant notifications for nearby new requests.
• Request tracking from pickup to weighing to payment, with a full record for both sides that prevents disputes.
